County Board members boosted land development fees by up to 50 percent Thursday to help cover associated staff costs.
The board established two sliding-scale charges for residential, agricultural or commercial-industrial use.
The board also established additional fees for applications stemming from ordinance violations, as well as for temporary-use permits and administrative variances.
Land Use Committee Chairman Jim Bilotta (R-Lockport) said the change could generate as much as $200,000 more a year.
Curt Paddock, director of the Land Use Department, said the new fee structure represents the average rate of fees charged by northern Illinois counties. Paddock said Will County fees have lagged behind those of every other county.
The revised fee schedule will produce “close to full cost recovery in most instances and full recovery for some,” Paddock said.
