Sky gets first shot at Sting players

The Sky will start its second season in New York on May 20 but gets a roster bonus next week. The Sky has the No. 1 pick in Monday’s dispersal draft for the Charlotte Sting’s roster; the Sting has folded. Top players available include Tangela Smith, a former Public League standout at Washington and the Sting’s leading scorer last season, guard Sheri Sam, guard-forward Monique Currie and former Penn State star Kelly Mazzante. The Sky opens its home schedule May 22 against Los Angeles at UIC Pavilion. The team has one national TV appearance: July 10 at Detroit on ESPN2.
