The Moviegoer
By Walker Percy
Vintage, 242 pages, $13.95 paper
Published more than four decades before Hurricane Katrina, this novel is certain to endure as a quintessential reflection of New Orleans. Binx Bolling, inveterate cinephile and purposeless bond salesman, looks for meaning in both Southern and Catholic traditions and his existential angst becomes universal.
