Five men were arrested Monday in connection with an armed robbery Saturday at a Verizon store in New Lenox where more than 74 phones were taken, police said.

An employee was opening up the store shortly before 10:30 a.m. when three men armed with handguns emerged from a vehicle and demanded cellphones, according to New Lenox police.

Detectives recovered 74 stolen phones, five firearms including one that was altered to function as a fully automatic weapon and two stolen vehicles, police said in a news release.

Dreyone Dyer, 21, of Chicago, was charged with armed robbery. Police said another person arrested had an active warrant out of Livingston County. Both men were transported to Will County Jail, police said.

The other men arrested have not been charged and the investigation remains open, police said.
