Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Shaquille O’Neal hasn’t exactly asked that we become a comedy team, but he was at it again Saturday.

Earlier in the playoffs, I picked the Bulls to beat Miami and wrote that O’Neal wasn’t the same player and could be drawn into fouls and run into exhaustion.

O’Neal cornered me in a group of reporters before Game 1 of that first-round series and said he had sent me–and the Bulls–home before and he’d do it again.

Score another for O’Neal.

So Saturday in answering a question about charges from the Mavericks that he gets away with rougher play than Jerry Stackhouse, O’Neal said at his news conference he doesn’t commit as many fouls because he learned from the Bulls and our media observations.

Said O’Neal: “I had to tuck my elbows away in the Chicago series when my man Sam wrote an article about me using my elbows back then. So my elbows have been tucked away since early May. Thank you, Sam.”
