Combine the coziness of your living-room recliner with an audio/visual overload of a dozen 42-inch plasma screens broadcasting the Bears and every other NFL team, and throw in a cute waitress delivering free beer and buffalo wings.
Sound like a lazy boy’s dream? It’s reality at Moretti’s Ristorante & Pizzeria, 1893 Walden Office Square in Schaumburg, where winners of the Best Seat in the House Contest are treated like royalty for Bears games, or at least the Guy Page’s idea of the royal treatment.
A raffle is held each game day to determine the following week’s winner, who receives $50 food and drink vouchers and access to two soft leather recliners positioned before a bank of screens. There’s no best-seat-in-the-house action this Sunday, but there will be a drawing during next week’s Bears game for the following week, should the Bears win, and for the Super Bowl.
“This is better than your living room,” said general manager Dave Berni. “You’ve got close to 200 other people cheering with you. We have Sunday Ticket so every single game is on. And, unless you’re married to a wonderful spouse, you’ve got someone waiting on you hand and foot.” [Editor’s note: Those feet can be reclined or in the regular position.]
Moretti’s also offers free Wi-Fi service to check fantasy scores and PlayStation 2 tocompletethejust-like-home-only-better- because-the-kids-aren’t-screaming-and-th e-phone-isn’t-ringing-and-they-have-a-se emingly-endless-supply-of-ranch-dressing atmosphere.
And unlike watching Bears games from your home recliner, there’s nothing spilled into the cracks between these cushions, and nobody–yet–has fallen asleep in the fourth quarter. Some girls have even won access to the chairs, encroaching yet another step into the realm of lazy that used to be the sole domain of boys.
