Although Tim Brasic is expected to remain the starting quarterback for Illinois, fellow junior Chris Pazan may get more playing time.
“We’ve got to give Tim an opportunity to do what he can do and what he has done,” said coach Ron Zook, who pulled Brasic early in the third quarter of Saturday’s 63-10 loss to Penn State. “Maybe we just need to rest Tim at times.”
Brasic completed 8 of 16 passes for 49 yards Saturday and was sacked four times. On one of the sacks, he fumbled, and the giveaway was returned 19 yards for a touchdown. Pazan completed 10 of 15 for 84 yards and one touchdown. He wasn’t sacked but was intercepted twice, one of which was run back 76 yards for a TD. . . .
Wide receiver Jody Ellis (collarbone), defensive end Xavier Fulton (knee), cornerback James Cooper (foot) and guard Martin O’Donnell (ankle) are all out for the season.
