Northwestern’s biggest challenge against No. 14 Wisconsin on Saturday will be containing tailback Brian Calhoun, who has emerged as one of the nation’s top runners in his first season in Madison. The transfer from Colorado has rushed for 10 touchdowns and is averaging 145.4 yards per game on 4.8 yards per carry.

“He can take something that doesn’t look like much, then all of a sudden it’s out of the gate,” Northwestern coach Randy Walker said. “Speed has a way of doing that.”

Calhoun is also the Badgers’ No. 2 receiver with 15 catches for an 11.1-yard average. . . .

Defensive tackle Trevor Schultz missed practice time this week with an injury, so freshman John Gill will make his second start Saturday. . . .

Saturday’s game will be televised by one of the ESPN networks, but which one will be determined by the baseball playoff schedule. A decision may not be made until Friday.
