“You Can’t Imagine How Much Fun We’re Having”
As leader of underground rap’s new school, the Minneapolis MC Slug doesn’t seem interested in pushing the form very far with this new disc. In fact, the disc sounds straight out of 1989. Then again, Slug’s delivery is strictly raw and gloss-free, and on the single “Watch Out,” it hearkens back to rap’s fabled golden age without losing a contemporary edge.
Best track: “That Night” tells the story of a 16-year-old Atmosphere fan murdered after a 2003 show.
