The Bolingbrook Village Board this week strengthened its ordinance regulating where adult establishments may locate in the village.

The board unanimously agreed to amend its current ordinance, which restricted only adult motion picture theaters from being within 1,000 feet of a school, day care, cemetery, public park, public housing or church. Adult uses are restricted to industrial-zoned areas.

The revised law also restricts other adult uses such as tattoo parlors and body piercing establishments from locating near the same land uses. In addition, the amendment includes residential properties to the 1,000-foot restriction.

Trustee LeRoy Brown attributed the change to the continued residential growth in the village.
