A Frames
Black Forest
With their clanging alleyway percussion and primitive, rudimentary guitars, Seattle’s A Frames take classic indie trash-rock and infuse it with a Teutonic discipline. Minimalist rhythms and angular riffs reconfigure drone rock into little experimental nuggets. The songs are so simple and spare that it’s easy to overlook the subtle melodies coursing beneath the noisy surface.
Best track: “U-Boat” has a lot in common with Wire’s best, but its rhythms and looser guitar sets it apart.
