Mike Doughty
Skittish/Rockity Roll
Mike (that’s “M,” to all Soul Coughing fans) Doughty recorded his first solo album “Skittish” after his former band broke up, but rather than distribute it properly, he allowed it to proliferate on the Internet. Soon enough, people were singing the acoustic unreleased ditties at shows, which proved that in stores or not, the disc was making the rounds. Given its underground success, Doughty shouldn’t be faulted for trying to boost his sales even more with a real release. Fortunately, as an added incentive, “Skittish” now comes packaged with the also acoustic (plus drum machines) “Rockity Roll” EP, itself doubled in length by several bonus tracks.
