player ready...Jane Pauley wouldn’t do her new talk show without her big sister.
Despite 30 years’ TV experience, the star insisted that Pittsburgh business executive Anne Pauley be on the staff for the syndicated “Jane Pauley Show,” which launches Monday.
“I wouldn’t have said yes if Anne hadn’t been part of the deal,” Pauley said.
Anne, who was president of a high-tech manufacturing company for 30 years, has no official title with the show. To Pauley, she’s “sister-in-chief.”
Unofficially, Anne’s role is to develop ideas for the female-oriented chatfest and, more important, to act as a security blanket for her only sib, an NBC News star for 27 years.
“It’s just too big to do without her,” Pauley says. “I’ve never carried a show on my own… Having my sister as support–intellectually, creatively and emotionally–makes me comfortable.”
The sisters, both Indiana University grads, are best friends.
