Three weeks of “Blue Collar TV” were enough to convince the WB that it wants more.

The network has picked up 22 more episodes of the sketch-comedy show. It originally received an eight-episode order, bringing the total for the year to 30.

“Blue Collar” has been a rare success at the comedy-starved network. Through its first three airings, the show drew just under 5 million viewers per week–better than any of the network’s sitcoms during the 2003-04 regular season.

It’s also scored well in the young-adult demographics the network targets. The premiere episode scored the WB’s best adults 18-34 rating in the 7 p.m. Thursday time slot since October 2001. Its competition will stiffen significantly in a few weeks, when CBS’ “Survivor” and NBC’s “Joey” open their seasons, but anything close to “Blue Collar’s” current numbers would still be good news for the network.
