The WB’s music series “Pepsi Smash” lived up to the first part of its title last summer, as the soft-drink maker’s name and logo were featured prominently in each episode.

The “Smash” part, though, was not as evident. Over its six-week run, the show averaged only about 1.75 million viewers, a low number even for the WB during the slower summer season.
Nonetheless, “Pepsi Smash” will be back for a second, eight-episode season this summer. The show has added Clear Channel Entertainment as a partner this year, allowing for broadcasts of live performances from bands playing at the radio/concert promotion giant’s venues.
In addition to the remote segments, the show will feature a battle-of-the-bands element. Two artists or groups will perform at the beginning of each episode, and viewers will pick who they want to see again at the end of the show.
Joel Gallen, who’s produced several MTV Movie Awards shows and numerous specials, is returning as executive producer of the series. The show will begin its run May 27.
