2001 Los Vascos Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Out of the Southern Hemisphere and only a few miles from the cooling effects of the Pacific Ocean comes this medium-body wine. The success of Chilean wines has attracted foreign investors, including the famous French producer Les Domaines Barons de Rothschild, which bought the Vina Los Vascos property some years ago. They produce a chardonnay, cabernet and cabernet reserve. This ruby reserve spends time in oak and is bottled 30 months after harvest. Heavy with tannins on first tasting, it mellows in the glass with a little time and with food. Try it with steak. Price: $16
