‘Late Show,’ Beatles party like it’s 1964
The Ed Sullivan Theater, home of “The Late Show with David Letterman,” will play host to the Beatles once again Monday.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Beatles’ first appearance on American television, “The Late Show” will air a clip from the Feb. 9, 1964, “Ed Sullivan Show” that brought the Fab Four into living rooms across the country.
That show, which took Beatlemania to a frenzy in the States, remains one of the highest-rated broadcasts in TV history. An estimated 73 million people watched the broadcast, after which each of the three singles the group had released prior to the show became hits.
Monday’s “Late Show” will feature the Beatles performing “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” on the “Ed Sullivan Show,” which has rarely been shown in its entirety since its original broadcast.
ABC drops ‘Sisco’
ABC’s “Karen Sisco” has been out of sight since November, and now it’s out for good.
Network executives insisted earlier this month they would try to relaunch the freshman series in March, but those plans have been abandoned, reportedly because ABC was unhappy with the new scripts.
Three completed episodes have not aired, and it’s unclear whether they’ll ever see the light of day.
Based on a character from Elmore Leonard’s novel “Out of Sight,” “Sisco” starred Carla Gugino as a federal marshal working in Miami. The series regularly got creamed by “Law & Order” on Wednesdays.

NBC locks in Locklear
After spending much of last spring trying to get Heather Locklear on an NBC series, the network has landed the actress for the ensemble drama “HUB.”
There’s no word on Locklear’s specific part, though The Hollywood Reporter describes it as a “leading role.” Locklear joins Blair Underwood in the series, which takes a behind-the-scenes look at a major airport.–zap2it.com
