Blair Underwood, late of “Sex and the City,” will star in a drama pilot set inside an airport for NBC.
Underwood will play the No. 2 man at a major airport in “HUB,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, originally developed during last year’s pilot season, is scheduled to go into production in March.
Nick Thiel (“Magnum, P.I.,” “Covington Cross”) wrote the script for “HUB” and will executive produce it with Mark Gordon (“Saving Private Ryan,” “And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself”). The pilot is set up at NBC Studios.
Underwood’s credits also include “City of Angels,” “L.A. Law” and the feature “Full Frontal.”
Also at NBC, Jon Avnet has signed on to direct the pilot for the cop show “Hawaii Blue,” formerly “Pearl City.” The show, which stars Sharif Atkins (“ER”) and Ivan Sergei (“Crossing Jordan”), follows a group of detectives in metropolitan Honolulu. Avnet was an executive producer of “Boomtown” and also directed several episodes.
