There’s something wonderfully appropriate about the fact that the network behind “Paradise Hotel” and “My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance” has assumed the responsibility for testing the nation’s intelligence. Fox will unveil “Test the Nation 2” on March 5.

Leeza Gibbons and Mark L. Walberg will return to host the two-hour special.

In June, Fox aired the first “Test the Nation” to a respectable summer audience of 7.3 million viewers. The show lets viewers participate in a national IQ test, and Fox reports that the last show’s test on the fox.com Web site received more than 8 million hits, with 463,000 people completing the online test.

“It’s not a game show; there are no prizes,” executive producer Phil Gurin explains. “Instead, we’ll find out if New York is smarter than Boston, if you are smarter than your friends–everyone will have their own results.”

The network will air the new “Test the Nation” as a live special beginning at 7 p.m.
