Anthony Anderson becomes a reluctant dad in his newest comedy “My Baby’s Daddy,” but in real life, he embraces fatherhood.
His respect for the importance of family is not only apparent in “Daddy,” which opens Friday, but also in his WB sitcom “All About the Andersons,” in which he plays a single father who must live with his parents while lining up acting gigs.
“Daddy” centers on three friends–played by Anderson, Eddie Griffin and Michael Imperioli–who are rudely awakened from their swinging singlehood when their respective girlfriends get pregnant at the same time.
In real life, 33-year-old Anderson lives in Los Angeles and is married to his college sweetheart, with whom he has two children.
“I like the travel of my feature films,” he explains, “[but it takes me] away from my wife and kids. That’s a drawback … but the flip side is my wife and my kids get to travel the world with me and see things that a 7- and 3-year-old would never see.”
“Daddy” was shot in Canada, as were several of Anderson’s other films, “Exit Wounds” and “Scary Movie 3.” For 2003’s “Kangaroo Jack,” the actor traveled Down Under to capture the beauty of the Australian Outback.
