player ready...If you’ve ever torn your house apart trying to find your car keys–and who hasn’t?–or sometimes drive yourself nuts trying to find the television remote–and who doesn’t?–life is about to get easier for you.
Developers at Digital Innovations in Lincolnwood have created the i-Spot, a device that can help you find car keys, the television remote and other items with the push of a button.
The i-SPOT is an expandable tracking system for use anywhere in the home or office.
Using radio-frequency technology, the i-SPOT system is comprised of a portable transmitter, docking station and three compact receivers. Each receiver can be placed in a key fob (included with the i-SPOT system) or mounted to a wide variety of items ranging from computer cases and keys to handheld games and remote controls. With the purchase of additional receivers, one i-SPOT transmitter can track up to 12 items.
The i-SPOT is easy to use. First, an i-SPOT receiver is assigned to one of the 12 buttons located on the transmitter. Then, the assigned button is labeled to correspond with the item it tracks. Next, the i-SPOT receiver is attached, making the item trackable.
The transmitter has a range of up to 40 feet. When a button is pressed on the transmitter, the corresponding receiver sounds a loud tone that a listener can track through the home or office.
The i-SPOT also includes a built-in alarm that reminds users to return the transmitter to the docking station, preventing the transmitter from being misplaced; a “low battery warning” beep; a quick reference card to identify the item each button tracks; and digitally coded receivers that eliminate false alarms and multiple system interference.
The company says the i-SPOT will be sold at national consumer electronics retailers and is scheduled to begin shipping this fall. The i-SPOT Starter Kit has a suggested retail price of $54.99 and includes transmitter, docking station, three receivers, three key fobs and three button-type cell batteries. Additional receiver packages are sold separately and priced at $14.99.
