DuPage County prosecutors handed over more than 2,000 pages of evidence to the DuPage County public defender’s office Monday in advance of the trial of Paul Runge, charged in the slayings of six women and one girl in DuPage and Cook Counties between 1995 and 1997.

Michael Wolfe, chief of criminal prosecutions, said the evidence presented Monday is just a fraction of the more than 10,000 pages prosecutors anticipate giving to defense attorneys.

Runge has pleaded not guilty in the deaths of two Hanover Park women in 1995, as well as four women and a 10-year-old girl from Cook County.

He is being held without bond in the DuPage County Jail and is due for a status hearing Friday in Chicago.

He is expected to be tried separately in both counties sometime next year.
