Coincidence will give Bears fans a special moment Sunday when all stand at Soldier Field for the singing of the national anthem.

An American flag measuring 100 yards by 53 yards, owned by Northbrook-based Culligan, will be unfurled over the playing field before the Bears-Minnesota Vikings game. The flag, used at the Culligan Holiday Bowl, is circulated to various sites during the year and happened to be in Chicago for use at the Jacksonville game, which was postponed after last week’s terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

The flag, believed to be the largest in the nation, will be handled by 250 volunteers from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago.
