A Wasco man was sentenced last week to 5 years in prison for stealing a pickup truck outside of a bar near DeKalb in November and leading police on a chase through portions of DuPage and Cook Counties.
Brant Herold, 22, pleaded guilty in DuPage Circuit Court to aggravated fleeing, stealing a motor vehicle, drunken driving and driving without a license.
A Westmont police officer testified that Herold was driving down Ogden Avenue at speeds approaching 100 m.p.h. When a tire blew, he continued to flee while driving on the wheel rims, the officer said.
After the truck stopped in Brookfield, he was apprehended after a short foot chase. More than two dozen police units were involved in the chase, the officer testified.
No one was injured during the incident, officials said.
