Park District commissioners voted last week to make four of their 24 annual meetings more accessible to the public by moving them out of the district’s headquarters in Wilder Park.

One of February’s meetings will take place in the Eldridge Park Recreation Building. One June meeting will take place at Courts Plus health club. The Park Board will meet at The Abbey senior citizens center next September. Officials have not yet picked a site for a proposed joint meeting with the School District 205 Board of Education.

The Park Board’s traditional meeting site tends to discourage residents from attending because the room is small and the parking lot is often crowded with overflow parking from Elmhurst Public Library. Holding one meeting per quarter elsewhere could help residents bring their concerns and feedback to commissioners, said Park District Director Richard Grodsky.
