The Lincoln-Way High School Board of Education made it official last week, accepting the results of a student vote choosing a new mascot and student colors for the east campus in Frankfort.
When the campus opens next fall, school colors will be cobalt blue, black and white. The colors will be used in the final design of the griffin mascot, a winged mythological creature with the head of an eagle and the body of a lion.
Lincoln-Way’s two buildings, the central campus in New Lenox and the east campus in Frankfort, have been enlarged in preparation for the split, which will provide more room for a growing enrollment.
