Police late Monday were seeking two armed assailants who shot and wounded a 19-year-old man during a home invasion and armed robbery in the 0 to 99 block of Aldine Avenue in Elgin.
The victim, two other men ages 20 and 21, and a 20-year-old woman, were watching television about 12:15 a.m. Monday when two males dressed in black kicked in the door of the home and demanded money, police said.
As one person handed over $35, an intruder fired at least three shots with a handgun, striking the 19-year-old, police said. Authorities described the man’s wound as “not life-threatening.” He was taken to a local hospital, which declined to release information about his condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Neighbors told police drug sales had been taking place in the apartment building where the shooting occurred, authorities said. Police said they recovered a scale and an undisclosed amount of marijuana from inside the building.
