THE FARFARERS: Before the Norse

By Farley Mowat

Steerforth Press, 377 pages, $16

Farley Mowat, one of Canada’s premier writers, is the author of more than 30 books, including the classics “The Dog Who Wouldn’t Be” and “Never Cry Wolf.” Now, in his provocative new work, “The Farfarers: Before the Norse,” Mowat second-guesses one of his earlier books and theorizes that Indo-Europeans beat the Norse to North America, arriving before 1000 A.D.
