Residents of Maercker Elementary School District 60 on Thursday will get their first look at a consultant’s analysis of conditions at local schools at an open house beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Holmes School, 5800 Holmes Ave. The district includes parts of Clarendon Hills and Westmont.

At issue is how the district will pay for $3.5 million in necessary repairs at its three schools as well as expand facilities to handle increasing enrollment.

According to a recent architect’s report, the district’s three school buildings need structural repairs to roofs, windows and heating and cooling systems. The bulk of the work–$1.8 million worth–is needed at the district’s oldest school, Maercker School in Westmont, officials said.
