Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Soon, perhaps very soon, 49ers quarterback Steve Young will face his own intensely personal choice. And whatever it is, people should respect his decision and call him neither a fool nor a coward. Young is an intelligent man with a law degree. But will he ever be as good an attorney as he is a football player? Probably not. Others haven’t been as lucky, but they knew the rules when they were on the field. Right now, we should cut Young a break. Let him work through his future on his own and come to his own conclusion. It’s fine to care about his health. But if you don’t like speculation, don’t speculate. And if you don’t like seeing concussions, don’t watch the games.
