In an indication that both the county and the economy are booming, Kane County Recorder of Deeds Lynda Rivers said this week that her offices took in nearly $1 million more in revenue than expected.

Rivers said a record 122,092 property-related documents were filed with her office last year, surpassing the previous high of 106,838 filed in 1993.

“A strong economy coupled with a record-breaking year for the housing market fueled the rise in volume,” Rivers said.

The recorder’s office collected about $3.1 million last year, 32 percent over the $2.3 million generated in 1997 and 42 percent higher than the nearly $2.2 million projected for the year.

“These figures indicate that Kane County continues to attract new residents and new businesses every day,” Rivers said.
