New Lenox Park District commissioners recently agreed to buy a 4.5-acre parcel for a proposed recreation center that would become part of a multiagency development.
The price for the land, south of U.S. Highway 30 and north of Village Hall on Haven Avenue, is $120,000 per acre.
Voters will be asked in a spring referendum to approve a tax increase to pay for the recreation center and a new library at the site of the planned New Lenox Commons development.
