More fun than 50 pushups: At Chelsea School in Frankfort, December gym classes literally rolled along.
Instead of doing situps and jumping jacks or playing dodgeball, the 3rd and 4th graders laced on rollerskates and glided around the gym.
“(The kids) love it,” said Linda Nelson, a physical education teacher. “It’s just fun.”
A rental firm supplied the skates, and two or three parent volunteers came to class to help the kids get the skates on and off, she said.

It’s a family affair; parents are invited to come in and skate with their kids. Some feel more secure just watching, but some moms and dads take to the wheels and circle the gym floor with the class.
And the class session just might bring back memories of the skating parties of their youth, with music to skate by, special skating sessions for boys, girls and partners and opportunities to skate backward.
