The tax levy for New Lenox Elementary School District 122 is going up, but the rate is expected to decline slightly, an administrator told the school board Wednesday.

Business manager James Troha said the proposed $11.1 million tax levy for 1998 is based on $505 million worth of assessed valuation, and $18.7 million of that total is new growth.

Homeowners could see a slight dip in their tax rates to $2.21 from $2.24 for each $100 of equalized assessed valuation, Troha said.

The figures are tentative, he said.
