Jorge Arroyo’s goal for ninth-ranked Joliet, which lifted the Steelmen to a 1-0 victory over No. 8 Sandburg Thursday, was far from a textbook maneuver.
It came off a throw-in that was followed by deflections, and he managed to slide the ball through the legs of Sandburg goalkeeper Justin Jarmus.
But Joliet coach Jose Salinas couldn’t have cared less, especially since it gave the visiting Steelmen (13-1-1, 8-1) their first victory over Sandburg (12-5-2, 6-3) in nine matches since 1994.
