Trustees decided Wednesday night to postpone action on a proposal to grant a tax abatement that would aid in the development of 80 acres in Romeoville and add infrastructure improvements to the village.
Village Atty. Ray Meader said the company, which plans to use tax abatement funds for road improvements and other upgrades, is still calculating costs. The company also is waiting to present its case for tax abatements to Will County and to Valley View School District 365-U officials.
Duke Realty plans to develop the former United Parcel Service property at Schmidt Road and Naperville Drive with 1.5 million square feet of warehouse and office space.
Even with the tax abatement, the project will bring more revenue than the land currently yields, according to Community Development Director Greg Anderson.
