Citing “increasing business responsibilities,” Tinley Park Trustee Carl Vandenberg has resigned, effective immediately.
In a letter Friday to Mayor Ed Zabrocki, Vandenberg, who has served as trustee 15 years, said he had to choose between his family or his government post.
“My increasing business responsibilities have forced me into a position where I must decide to spend less time with my family or do less as a village trustee,” Vandenberg wrote. “My family must come first.”
Vandenberg is a lawyer and secretary-treasurer of Pines Development Group Ltd. and Trace Ambulance Inc.
Zabrocki said Vandenberg first discussed the matter with him last summer.
“I am very saddened,” Zabrocki said Monday. “I spent many hours with Carl trying to talk him out of it. He adds a certain expertise to the board we are going to miss.”
Zabrocki said he will nominate a successor within 10 days.
