Armed with information they had been seeking concerning a builder’s ability to secure financing, Tinley Park officials are expected Tuesday to give a green light to a hotel-convention center.

Trustee Pat Rea said he spoke Monday afternoon with the executive of a bank that has expressed interest in the proposal and said he sees no reason why Jerry Stillman will not be chosen as builder.

“Stillman has sufficient letters of support that say if the project is doable, then Mr. Stillman and his partners are bankable,” Rea said.

Rea had said he would not support the project without being satisfied of Stillman’s ability to obtain financing, and Mayor Ed Zabrocki said he would not feel “comfortable” proceeding without it as well.

Stillman has said financial troubles in the late 1980s caused him to sell Holiday Inns in Crystal Lake and Matteson, plus a partially developed commercial park in Matteson and a Hampton Inn in Michigan.
