Tinley Park Village Board members gave final approval Tuesday night to the installation of sanitary sewers and water mains for an 85-lot subdivision that recently was annexed by the town.

A public hearing and preliminary vote on the sewer and water connections for Tinley Gardens, which encompasses about 25 acres between 92nd and 94th Avenues south of 183rd Street, took place last month.

Homeowners will pay the installation fees, expected to be about $4,100 per lot, through a 10-year annual special assessment. That does not include the cost of individual hookups to the sewer and water lines.

The annexation will be paid for partially by $400,000 in community development block grant funds distributed by Will County and $200,000 in state grants.

One reason residents in that area wanted to join the village was the poor quality of tap water in their homes, officials said.
