Village Board members voted Tuesday night to give tentative approval to the installation of sanitary sewers and water mains for an 85-lot subdivision that is annexing into town.
The action followed a public hearing during which Tinley Gardens residents could ask questions regarding fees for the installation.
The area encompasses about 25 acres between 92nd and 94th Avenues south of 183rd Street.
Homeowners would be able to pay the fees–expected to be about $4,100 per lot–through a 10-year annual special assessment. That assessment would not include the cost of individual hookups to the sewer and water lines.
The annexation will be paid for partially by $400,000 in block grant funds from Will County and $200,000 in state grants. Officials have said the annexation would have been much more difficult without the grants.
