It may be surprising that Hoffman Estates has jumped off to a 6-0 start this season, but Hawks coach Bill Wandro insists there’s no secret to the success.

Chris Sigl scored 19 points, including six in a 15-1 fourth-quarter run as the Hawks opened Mid-Suburban League South Division play with a 55-48 victory Thursday night at Elk Grove.

Hoffman raced to a 14-point first-half lead but had to fight back from a two-point fourth-quarter deficit to pull out the decision.

“I think our guys played a great first half and fourth quarter, but the rest of the game they totally dominated us,” said Wandro.

“It was pretty obvious what we were trying to do tonight, and when we got away from it, we started to turn the ball over. It came down to a matter of patience.”
