Made-for-TV movies are seen to their best advantage when they cross over to home video. Because they were made for television, there are no cropped widescreen images, no commercials–but in some cases, there’s added footage deemed not ready for prime time.

For those who missed last season’s Emmy-winning films and miniseries, home video makes these esteemed productions instantly accessible. Did “Miss Evers’ Boys,” “Prime Suspect 5: Errors of Judgement” and actors Armand Assante (“Gotti”) and Alfre Woodard (“Miss Evers’ Boys”) deserve their honors at the Sunday night awards show? Check out the competition on home video and judge for yourself.

“Miss Evers’ Boys (above),” which won the President’s Award, is now available, as are the other made-for-TV movie Emmy nominees, “Bastard Out of Carolina,” “Gotti” and “If These Walls Could Talk.” Christopher Reeves’ “In the Gloaming” is scheduled for release Oct. 14.

If you missed any or all of “Prime Suspect 5,” “In Cold Blood” or “The Odyssey,” you can watch these miniseries on video at your own pace. “The Last Don” is a video you can’t refuse, with bonus footage (containing nudity and violence).

Other Emmy-worthy performances available on video include Robert Duvall in “The Man Who Captured Eichmann,” Sidney Poitier in “Mandela and De Klerk” and Stockard Channing in “An Unexpected Family.”

“First Do No Harm,” starring nominee Meryl Streep, is scheduled for release Oct. 14.
