Growth is keeping the $15 million budget approved by the Tinley Park Village Board in good shape, according to village staffers.
“We’re in the black,” said Deputy Village Clerk Shirley Schwartz.
With revenues of $15.2 million and expenditures of $14.4 million projected in the village’s operating budgets, village trustees anticipate a fund balance of more than $937,000 when the fiscal year ends April 30, 1998, Schwartz said.

“New growth definitely helps keep the budget in the black,” said Brad Bettenhausen, village treasurer.
Growth boosts sales-tax and property-tax revenues, as well as the town’s share of the state income-tax receipts, Bettenhausen said.
This year’s budget, approved Tuesday, is 5 percent higher than last year’s, he said.
