Besides the Walgreens under construction on the Nelson Plaza property at Nelson Road and U.S. Highway 30, other businesses are set to locate in the shopping area, according to Lori Lindberg, chairwoman of the New Lenox Economic Development Commission.
Lindberg said a video store, a hair salon, a pizzeria and a tire store are among the businesses expected to locate in the Nelson Plaza area across the road from the village’s new Jewel-Osco.
Some of the spaces are to be set aside for local businesses to expand, said Lindberg, adding she plans to begin marketing those spaces this month.
Lindberg, in a report to the Village Board this week, said the commission is working to “keep the name of New Lenox out there,” sending out newsletters and participating in business expos.
The newsletter highlights general business information and other aspects of community life, she said.
