The Lincoln-Way high school district will start expansion preparations in the next school year, said school officials during a discussion of goals on Thursday.

Other goals include continued fiscal responsibility, improved instruction and student motivation, and an upgrade of technology.

However, expansion has been the focus of many recent school board meetings because it is the most controversial.

School officials expect enrollment at its two school buildings, the freshman-sophomore campus in Frankfort and the junior-senior campus in New Lenox, to reach capacity by 2000.

Citizens committees are studying curriculum, boundaries, transportation and financing.

The school board will consider two options for expansion: building a new school on the northeast side at 191st Street and Harlem Avenue or adding on to its schools.
