A meritorious solution would be to nationally designate the final weekend of October as Halloween. Friday is a perfect night for adults to celebrate: It involves a workday, the evening is the weekend and the whole day is wrapped in the “end of the week” wind-down.
Saturday is the perfect night for the children to celebrate, because it gives parents and neighborhoods control. Most neighborhoods that have organized trick-or-treating already avail themselves of the weekend. And, finally, the nights would be within the Daylight Saving period.
