Children have already encountered arachnids this summer at the exhibit called “Spiders!” at the Field Museum and at the “Insect Zoo, Arachnids Too” at the Nature Museum of the Chicago Academy of Sciences. Now they can see them in their natural habitat during a Spider Walk at 8 p.m. Aug. 24 that will take participants on a stroll through the outdoor environment at the North Park Village Nature Center. Visitors will learn about mating rituals and hunting strategies and look for webs that come in many shapes and probably see spiders waiting for their prey. All of them will be left where they belong, since no collecting will be permitted. The activity is free but pre-registration is required. Call 312-744-5472.
