Five teens accused of spray-painting a garage door with racial slurs and epithets on Martin Luther King’s birthday, Jan. 15, were free on bond Monday.

Richard McCutchan II, 19, and Jeffrey Martin, 19, were charged with committing a hate crime, a Class 4 felony, and they posted bail of $7,000 each, police said. Robert Weaver, 17, Heather Kennedy, 17, and Renee Martin, 17, were accused of criminal defacement of property, a misdemeanor, and were given bonds of $3,000, police said. The case has a Feb. 14 court date.
