The Cubs assigned two pitchers Sunday from the disabled list to rehabilitation with teams in the minor-league system.

Jim Bullinger (3-0, 1.95 ERA) will be sent to the Cubs’ Double-A team in Orlando. Chris Nabholz will rehabilitate at Triple-A Iowa. Both will report Tuesday, the same day Anthony Young comes off the disabled list and reports to the Cubs’ bullpen.

A scratch hit: Kevin Roberson, scheduled to start in left field Sunday, was a late scratch due to a sore leg. Howard Johnson replaced Roberson in left. Roberson, however, doubled as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and was replaced by pinch runner Kevin Foster. And Johnson snapped an 0-for-21 stretch with a seventh-inning single.

Streaky: Rey Sanchez had his career high 11-game hitting streak snapped Sunday, going 0 for 4.

Better than last year: The Cubs record fell to 3-8 for June, yet the club is far outperforming its record over the same number of games last year.

Mike Morgan’s 3-0 victory Saturday improved the record of Cubs starting pitchers to 20-9 for the season in the team’s 41st game. Last year, Steve Trachsel registered the 20th victory for a Cubs starter in the team’s 67th game of the season.

The Cubs went into Sunday’s game with a 23-18 record. On the same date one year ago, the Cubs won for the 23rd time, but had 36 losses.
