Mundelein 79, North Chicago 66: Ivan Hourruitiner scored 23 points, Sean Stackhouse 21 and Brian McMahon 17 for No. 18 Mundelein (14-3, 7-1) in the North Suburban. Mundelein trailed 29-23 midway through the second quarter. With 2 minutes 24 seconds left before halftime, Hourruitiner hit a three-pointer, followed by Stackhouse’s steal and breakaway layup to put Mundelein up 34-33. It was a lead Mundelein didn’t relinquish. Yotoy McCoy scored 16 points for North Chicago (5-11, 2-5).
Deerfield 67, Lane Tech 51: No. 9 Deerfield (14-2) played without two starters-Ryan Hogan (sprained ankle) and Brian Panek (sprained wrist)-but cruised to the non-conference victory behind Seth Benzinger and Mike Casey, who scored 19 apiece.
Schaumburg 59, Dundee-Crown 54: Jack Michaels led Schaumburg (13-3) to the non-conference victory with 25 points, including 12 in the second quarter, and 12 rebounds. Graper Griffin scored 20 points for Dundee (13-4).
Hersey 55, Maine South 46: Brad Bowsher netted 22 points, going 7 for 8 at the line in the fourth quarter, for Hersey (14-2) in the non-conference victory. Chris LoPinto’s 16 points led Maine South (9-7).
Buffalo Grove 67, Waukegan 49: Jason Strojinc’s 28 points and Brad Verber’s 25 powered Buffalo Grove (8-7) in non-conference play.
Barrington 60, Crystal Lake South 52: Almir Smajic’s 20 points helped Barrington (4-12) earn the non-conference victory.
Sycamore 60, Geneva 34: Srdan Selimbegovic scored 16 points for Sycamore.
Stevenson 72, Antioch 67: Peter Ferguson scored 29 points and Tyler Hawkins 19 for Stevenson (5-12, 3-5) in the North Suburban. Eric Eckenstahler’s 22 led Antioch (8-8, 2-6).
